Wish List: Pebble watch for Android or iPhone [Updated]

Have you ever heard of Kickstarter? Kickstarter is a website that provides a platform for people to raise money for projects. Earlier this week, a new smart watch called Pebble launched on the site. Pebble is a customizable watch that can download different watchfaces and connects to apps on your Android or iPhone using bluetooth technology. Once connected to your phone, the watch will alert you with a silent vibration to incoming calls, emails and messages.

The most interesting part of the launch is its early success. In just over 28 hours, the Pebble garnered over $1 million in financial backing. Currently, the number of backers is approaching 14,000 with pledges of over $1.8 million. The Kickstarter listing is scheduled to be funded on May 18th and is on track be one of the most successful Kickstarter projects to date.

The watch is set to ship later this year in September. The expected MSRP is $150, but can be pre-ordered throught the Kickstarter campaign starting at $115. I don't know about you, but I want one. Check out the the video below.

UPDATE: The Pebble watch has set a record as the largest funded project ever on Kickstarter. The previous record of $3.3 million, set in 60 days, was surpassed in just 4 days by the Pebble project. The project has raised over $6.3 million from approximately 43,000 backers. With 24 days of funding left, it will be interesting to see how much money the project raises in the time remaining. PS, I still want this watch.
